Announcement BETA Competition

In tribute to Eddie Richards, BETA would like to announce the first run of a competition for teachers of English entitled My Best Classroom Practice. Entering the competition is open to both members and non-members of the association.

The prize winner from among the BETA-member applicants will get a free participation in the 17th annual BETA conference.
The prize-winner from among the non-members will be able to participate in the annual BETA conference at half price.

Teachers are invited to submit a filled in form (click here to open) in which they will have described an activity/ part of a lesson /a lesson devised by themselves which they are proud of. They can also send a video clip or any other visual material in an electronic format to illustrate it.

The submitted forms will be evaluated by a specially appointed committee - Nina Tsvetkova (BETA committee member, ISLE SIG), Stefka Kitanova (BETA committee member, EAC SIG), Svetla Tashevska (TED SIG), Syana Harizanova (BETA committee member, YL SIG), Tanya Ivanova (BETA committee member, YL SIG), Villy Karastateva (ISLE SIG). All members of the appointed committee are experienced English language teachers and teacher trainers.

Competition entries will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
1. Benefit for the learner
2. Clarity and cohesion
3. Logical sequence of the lesson parts/ activity steps and coherence
4. Applicability in other teaching contexts

The winning entries will be published on BETA’s website.

Lessons based on unacknowledged materials will automatically be disqualified.
