Announcement BETA Competition

Dear members and friends,

Desmond Thomas, lecturer at the School of Oriental & African Studies of the University of London and a former colleague of Eddie's at the British Council, Sofia, has kindly accepted our invitation to deliver a plenary talk at the beginning of next year's BETA conference commemorating the life and work of Eddie Richards.

We are aware that Eddie had many friends in Bulgaria who had known him since his days in Rousse many years ago. We would therefore like to collect together your ideas and your memories so that we can provide a suitable tribute from all of us. As it will be impossible for everyone to stand up and talk on the day, Desmond would certainly like to pass on your words to the conference audience. If you think it is appropriate, we could also show some pictures of Eddie’s life in Bulgaria.

If you have any comments about Eddie that you would like to share personally we will start a book of remembrance so you can add them at the conference and BETA will keep this as a testimony to Eddie's contribution to the ELT network.
